Asia’s leading professional graduate school of international affairs, the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, wishes to appoint



Associate Professors/Assistant Professors/Research Fellows
in the following specializations:

Contemporary Islam
Applicants are expected to have a good understanding of Islamic history; Islamic law, jurisprudence and theological issues; Islamic history, culture and practice in the Middle East and/or Southeast Asia. A knowledge of Arabic and/or Malay/Bahasa Indonesia would be an advantage.

Military Affairs
Applicants should possess a good understanding of the nature of warfare in the past, present and future, and military related matters such as net assessments, strategic surprise and civil-military relations is essential. A knowledge of military doctrine and operations, and the technologies driving the transformation of warfare would be major pluses.

Northeast Asian Security/Japan
Applicants are expected to be scholars in the international politics and security of Northeast Asia and to have a good grasp of the foreign and defence policies of Japan. The ability to teach Japanese domestic politics or political economy would be an added advantage.

Terrorism Studies
Applicants are expected be scholars whose research focus on the analysis of political violence and terrorism. They are also expected to be able to manage a team of Research Analysts, to give research direction, conduct threat analysis, as well as write and vet papers on political violence and terrorism.

Multilateralism
Applicants should have a good grasp of the international relations of East and Southeast Asia with a focus on the multilateral processes within those regions. Extensive fieldwork experience and networking in the ASEAN nations would be highly desirable.

Science, Technology and Security
Applicants are expected to have a good understanding of board-based technological developments and their applications to society; international politics, and Asia-Pacific security. An expertise in engineering or service would be an advantage.

All successful candidates will be attached to the research centres of the school and will be expected to contribute to the centre’s programmes and activities. Further information on these centres is available at www.rsis.edu.sg.

In addition to having the skills to conduct independent research, successful applicants will also teach up to two courses in the School’s Master of Science Programmes. A relevant PhD and a good publication record are therefore essential requirements. Applicants are also expected to contribute to the School’s research agenda, contribute to team research projects, teach in short executive programmes, and organise conferences and seminars. Experience in policy-relevant research and publication would be useful. Those with the appropriate qualifications and experience may be appointed at the Associate Professor level. Initial appointments are for three years, which are renewable, subject to mutual agreement.

The newly launched Centre for NTS (Non-Traditional Security) studies wishes to seek applicants for the following positions:

Fellow / Post-Doctoral Fellow in Health Governance & Security

Applicants should have a good understanding of health and human security, including pandemics and health governance. Related experience and knowledge of health systems and regional cooperative frameworks in Asean and Asia would be a major advantage. Program Officer

Applicants should have at least 2 years experience in a similar capacity, and be able to write and converse in fluent English. He/she should be self-motivated, focused, efficient, well-organized, and be able to multi-task. The successful candidate will be required to assist in event planning, coordinate meetings, provide administrative support and liaise with the School administration on operational matters. A good degree, with proven proficiency in the English language, as well as good knowledge of Microsoft Office would be necessary for this position.

Administrative Executive

You will provide administrative and secretarial support to the Head of Departments. You will be responsible for all general office administration including managing space allocation and staff accommodation, procurement and maintenance of office facilities/equipment, security and ad-hoc projects as assigned. You will also execute administrative duties and document procedures.

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree with relevant administrative experience
  • Team player with a positive attitude, good interpersonal and communicational skills
  • Able to multi-task with strong planning and organizational skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications such as Word and Excel
  • Experience in submission through GEBIZ system an advantage.
